Early in his dental school career, Dr. Berry expressed an interest in the specialty area of pediatric dentistry. He obtained extra experience in this area during his general dental studies by enrolling in electives and gaining additional clinical training that surpassed routine requirements. Upon graduation, Dr. Berry was accepted into a residency in Pediatric Dentistry at the Children's Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. This was a two-year training program that included the performance of over 70 in-office conscious sedations, 120 cases of dental care delivery with the patient under general anesthesia and over 500 emergency room cases seen for the management of orofacial trauma, infections and pain. Rotations were also done in pediatric medicine, hematology/oncology and craniofacial anomalies. His pediatric training also gave extensive experience in delivering dental care to children with various medical problems as well as to physically and mentally handicapped pediatric and adult patients. After completing requirement necessary to be a pediatric dentist, Dr. Berry practiced in private practices in Ohio and Pennsylvania. He than served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Public Health Service as a clinical specialist and area consultant for the Native American population in Oklahoma. Dr. Berry is currently licensed to practice as a pediatric dental specialist in several states. He is a board-certified member of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Dental Association.
In 1995, Dr. Berry married Renee of
Parkville, Missouri. In 1997, they relocated back to the Parkville
area in order to establish a practice in pediatric dentistry. They
have a daughter, Natalie and a son, Cameron whom you may see in the
office from time to time. In his spare time (what there is of
it!) Dr. Berry enjoys studying history and reading. Dr. Berry
and Renee are also very involved in their church, The Below are some pictures from Dr. Berry's recent medical/dental missions trip to Honduras. In early February, he joined with a group of doctors, dentists, nurses, surgeons and pharmacists for about 10 days to a clinic in the mountains of Honduras in the central part of the country. The organization that organized the trip was the Global Health Network, the missions endeavor of the Christian Medical and Dental Associations. His time was spent delivering dental care, mostly extracting teeth, to the population there. Although it was the hardest work he had ever done, it was also the most rewarding. The Honduran people are a very gentle, appreciative people and were a joy to get to know. Dr. Berry was made very much aware that the little Spanish he learned before going was hardly adequate. He enjoyed the trip so much that he is currently planning another missions trip.
